As Auckland adjusts to Covid-19 level 3 restrictions which began on Sunday morning, Whanganui, along with the rest of the country, is adapting to a return to level 2.
While scheduled Saturday events in the city were able to go ahead, there were some changes for events on Sunday.
The planned annual celebration of Whanganuitanga at Pākaitore/Moutoa Gardens was scaled back to a smaller gathering so the broadcast on Awa FM radio station could still go ahead with selected speakers.

BUFFALO SPRINGS LAKE, Texas (KCBD) - After 43 years of working power lines, Ira Pickard is calling it a career.
âIra spent 43 years with South Plains Electric Co-Op. While weâre home safe in bed, these linemen are getting us electricity back,â Kirkpatrick said. âFiremen get kudos all the time, (along with) police officers, EMS, health care workers. But, people that keep us comfortable in our lives seldom get any recognition.â
For Iraâs friends and family, a simple goodbye wasnât enough. Instead, his girlfriend reached out to those closest to him to set up a socially-distanced parade that circled around Buffalo Springs Lake. For Pickard, it was a goodbye trip in a fire engine loaned out by his friend, Lubbock Fire Rescueâs Eddie Kirkpatrick.

The man shot dead by police in South Auckland had lived in Australia since he was six months old - and his family intend bringing him home to Sydney where he will be laid to rest.
His mother, Moana Taverio, told the Herald the 501 deportee had struggled for four years to fit into New Zealand.

Auckland will go into alert level 3 lockdown for seven days from 6am tomorrow morning.

Aucklanders are waking up this morning to alert level 3, and the rest of the country to level 2.
That means a large portion of businesses - hairdressers, gyms and cinemas, among others - will keep their doors shut and operations on hold as trading restrictions are re-implemented in the country s most populous city.
Supermarkets, dairies, petrol stations, butchers and greengrocers will remain open to shoppers as normal, while cafes, eateries and restaurants move to takeaways only.
